Galt is the old heart of Cambridge and it has the old pipe to match. The stone and brick houses on the streets climbing away from the river on both sides — up Dickson Hill, through West Galt, along the streets off Main, Water and Ainslie — were built when water lines were galvanized steel and drains were cast iron, and a lot of them still are.
